[Satellite TODAY 01-18-12] Hughes Network Systems has been awarded a contract to provide airborne and maritime tactical communications solutions for an unnamed international Coalition partner supporting intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) initiatives, the company announced Jan. 17.

   Hughes said it would employ its advanced HX System platform to provide full Internet Protocol (IP) functionality with enhanced security standards to meet the unique requirements of ISR applications. The HX architecture uses multiple gateways under an ExpertNMS network management system.

   “Our powerful and field proven HX System is ideal for ISR applications, delivering bandwidth efficient solutions to help reduce costs while also providing the most advanced communications-on-the-move technologies available to military and government customers,” Hughes Defense and Intelligence Systems Vice President and General Manager Rick Lober said in a statement.

   Financial details of the contract were not disclosed.
