[Satellite TODAY 12-23-11] TeleCommunication Systems (TCS) has won a second extension to its U.S. Army World-Wide Satellite Systems (WWSS) indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract, TCS announced Dec. 21.
TCS will continue to offer and deliver turnkey, single-source and quick-reaction solutions for emerging communications requirements worldwide in support of all federal missions.
The WWSS contract was initially issued in 2006 under a five-year, $5 billion multiple-award structure. The deal was previously extended through August 2012 and is now extended to July 2013. Since 2006, TCS has received WWSS funded orders totaling about $500 million and currently has more than $800 million of unfunded open orders under the WWSS program. About $2 billion of un-awarded contract ceiling remains under WWSS available for use during the extension period.
“For five years and counting, from fabrication and testing, to operation and maintenance, TCS has been supporting our brave warfighters in helping to aid mission success, and we look forward to continuing this work,” TCS Senior Vice President and General Manager of Government Solutions Mike Bristol said in a statement.
