[Satellite TODAY 09-15-11] Comtech Mobile Datacom received $1.7 million in additional funding from the U.S. Army for a previously announced $4.6 million order that was placed under Comtech’s existing $384.0 million Blue Force Tracking-1 (BFT-1) contract, parent company Comtech announced Sept. 14.
The order to support the U.S. Army’s Movement Tracking System (MTS) program is now funded up to $6.3 million and will see Comtech continue to supply MTS satellite bandwidth, satellite network operations, engineering services, and program management support through December 2011.
In a statement, Comtech President and CEO Fred Kornberg said he anticipates the value of the order to increase based on final negotiations with the U.S. Army. The total value of all Comtech orders received under the $384.0 million BFT-1 contract is $345.6 million.
