[Satellite TODAY 09-02-11] Comtech EF Data received a $1.2 million satellite Earth station equipment order from a unnamed U.S. solutions provider that will be deployed by the U.S. government to power a satellite-based communications network, Comtech announced Sept. 1.
Comtech EF Data’s LPOD and associated accessories were included in the order and designed with a thermal and mechanical package to make the solution ideally suited for installations with limited mounting space, such as ship-borne antenna systems, small flyaway systems, and satellite news gathering installations.
In a statement, Comtech President and CEO Fred Kornberg said the LPOD eliminates the requirement for the modem to supply a DC power source and facilitates multi-carrier and redundant L-Band operation. “The LPOD also includes built-in data logging enabling critical parameters to be recorded at time stamped intervals. The U.S. government selected Comtech hardware based on our extensive experience in RF products, our reliability and our field-proven performance.”
