[Satellite TODAY 06-10-11] Canadian information solutions provider MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (MDA) signed a contract in excess of $8.1 million with an unnamed customer to provide a multi-satellite ground station solution, MDA announced June 9.

   MDA will develop, integrate and install the multi-satellite ground station solution at the customer’s site in the first quarter of 2012. The company said the solution would be capable of programming, receiving and processing imagery and data.

   The contract comes after MDA completed the sale of its property information business in January. The sale resulted in an after-tax gain of $56 million, or $1.37 per share, in the first quarter of 2011. MDA’s order backlog at the end of its first quarter was $877 million.
