U.S. Space has been awarded a $291,000 contract by the U.S. Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center to study feasible acquisition alternatives to satisfy military satellite communication needs, the company announced April 19.
U.S. Space said the study would review commercial and other alternative approaches to the existing military satellite acquisition model and recommend alterations that aim to enable faster, more cost-effective and more efficient solutions to meet U.S. government needs.
"This study positions the company to make actionable recommendations on new procurement and service models that leverage the best attributes of both commercial and military satellite communications services," U.S. Space said in a company statement.
