[Satellite TODAY 05-03-11] Riverbed Technology has contracted iDirect Government Technologies (iGT) to resell its wide area network (WAN) optimization and network visibility solutions for U.S. government and military satellite networks, iDirect announced May 2.
    The agreement will see iGT resell Riverbed’s Steelhead appliances, which aim to provide comprehensive cross-layer optimization resulting in significant performance enhancements over the satellite WAN.
    “One of the biggest benefits to our customers is that right now, satellite bandwidth is a precious and scarce commodity. So, for our military customers, these network optimization products combined with iGT’s already bandwidth efficient routers, will allow improved utilization of their existing bandwidth and allow our military customers to defer the expense of bandwidth upgrades,” iGT President John Ratigan said in a statement.
