[Satellite TODAY 04-19-11] Comtech EF Data received a $1.2 million order for satellite ground station communications equipment from an unnamed systems integrator, which will deploy the equipment to support a Latin American military network, Comtech announced April 18.
The military customer will receive Comtech’s CDM-625 advanced satellite modems and LPOD block up-converters. The CDM-625 will be used to cut operational costs by combining advanced forward error correction with Comtech’s DoubleTalk Carrier-in-Carrier bandwidth compression.
"The combination of advanced technologies in the CDM-625 enables multi-dimensional optimization. Comtech’s LPOD block up-converter eliminates the traditional requirement for the modem to supply a DC power source and a 10 MHz reference to the block up-converters and low-noise block converters," Comtech said in a company statement.
