[Satellite TODAY 03-16-11] Inmarsat subsidiary Stratos Government Services (SGSI) was awarded a GSA 70 FCSA contract to provide commercial satellite communications products and services to the U.S. government, SGSI announced March 15.
    Stratos’ network runs on an information assurance-compliant commercial architecture operated by U.S. military personnel on the ground, at sea and in the air. The GSA 70 contract award allows SGSI’s government end users to access its network directly or through its channel partners.
    “Our portfolio of mobile satellite solutions is designed to meet the U.S. government’s information assurance and readiness requirements. The FCSA award provides a contract to access these services quickly and improves mission readiness and security. Direct access to the Stratos’ Global Network provides our customers with a wider range of integrated commercial satcom solutions at the industry’s most competitive prices,” SGSI President and CEO Bob Roe said in a statement.
