[Satellite TODAY 03-02-11] Vizada Networks has installed an iDirect VSAT-powered hub to support a contract from an unnamed European civil defense agency to provide satellite infrastructure and training services, Vizada announced March 1.
    The iDirect hub was integrated at the contracting agency’s headquarters and was connected with iDirect remotes to establish a communications link with European defense agencies dispersed across several outposts.
    In a statement, Vizada Defense Division Director Rune Kristiansen said the customer would use the VSAT network to assist and support local authorities in police and customs. "Such civil defense organizations require highly reliable solutions that can either serve as a primary communications link in remote locations or as a secure backup solution for sites in more developed areas. We’ve found that the reliability offered by the iDirect platform satisfies our high standard for provisioning services to our customers."
