[Satellite TODAY 01-20-11] Com Dev was awarded a $9 million award from an unnamed government contractor to provide equipment for a military communications satellite, the Canadian satellite company announced Jan. 19.
    Com Dev will provide beam select subsystems and switch assemblies for the satellite. Work on the contract will be carried out at the company’s facility in Cambridge, Ontario, with completion expected by end of its 2013 fiscal year.
    This award, combined with pre-production work already completed for the customer, brings Com Dev’s total work contract value to more than $12 million. "This order adds to the military backlog that we already increased with the announcement of two material contracts earlier in our fiscal first quarter,” Com Dev CEO Michael Pley said in a statement.
