The new contracts fall under include two categories — transponded capacity and subscription services — allowing the U.S. government to directly obtain communications capability and services on SES’ fleet of geostationary communications satellites. The contracts also enable U.S. defense industry providers to partner with SES World Skies to power global communications missions.
FCSA is a result of a cooperative effort between the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) and the U.S. Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) to simplify the process of establishing U.S. government contracts with the commercial satellite industry.
Financial details of the contracts have yet to be established.
