[Satellite TODAY 10-29-10] CapRock Government Solutions’ subscription and transponder capacity services were added to the U.S. General Services Administration’s (GSA) Federal Supply Schedule 70 vehicle, which will enable the company to provide services and leased bandwidth to government customers, the company announced Oct. 28.
The addition of two special item numbers for commercial satellite communications services to the agency’s existing Future Commercial Satellite Acquisition (FCSA) information technology contract allow expanded CapRock services to be included in the Schedule 70 vehicle. CapRock has held a Schedule 70 contract since 1998.
To support new Schedule 70 orders, CapRock will leverage its network of 3 GHz of capacity on 63 satellites and four self-owned and operated teleports in North and South America, Europe, and Asia.
CapRock said it launched its CommandAccess service in December in anticipation of the GSA’s new subscription services expansion. The company said government customers would now be able to purchase pre-packaged and pre-engineered fixed or mobile satellite service solutions and any related equipment and terrestrial components.
