[Satellite TODAY 10-14-10] Comtech EF Data Corp. won a $3.2 million order from an unnamed U.S. government agency for satellite communications equipment that will be utilized to upgrade fielded satellite terminals for tactical military communications, the company announced Oct. 13.
    Comtech will supply MBT-5003 up/down converter systems and SLM-5650A satellite modems. The MBT-5003 systems will provide frequency conversion between L-Band IF and C-/X-/Ku-Band RF frequencies. The unit, designed for rugged fly-away terminal use, will be packaged in a 3RU platform to provides high-output power in a single chassis solution.
    The SLM-5650A satellite modems, compliant with applications on DSCS, WGS and commercial satellites, will work to increase bandwidth efficiency and flexibility, including the transmission security and network processor modules, for the government customer.
