[Satellite TODAY 09-02-10] NASA has extended its Space Program Operations contract with United Space Alliance (ULA) to remain active through the end of March 2011, the agency announced Sept. 1.
The cost reimbursement contract extension, worth about $909 million with award and performance fees, will see the company support flight operations for NASA’s space shuttle and International Space Station programs. The ULA will continue to provide mission design and planning, astronaut and flight controller training, system integration, flight operations, vehicle processing, launch and recovery, vehicle sustaining engineering, and flight crew equipment processing.
The ULA will continue to perform work at its facilities in Houston; Huntsville, Ala.; and the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, as well as major subcontractor facilities in Huntington Beach, Calif., Houston, and Cape Canaveral, Fla.
Subcontractors on the contract include Barrios Technology, Bastion Technologies, Lockheed Martin Commercial Space Systems, Pratt Whitney Rocketdyne and Boeing.
