[Satellite TODAY 07-16-10] Globecomm Systems has been awarded an $8.7 million Ka-band infrastructure contract from an unnamed foreign government, company announced July 15.
Globecomm will design and install multiple Ka-band antennas and related subsystems under the contract scope, which includes a turnkey RF electronics installation for fixed- and vehicle-mounted Ka-band terminal systems. The company also will provide the customer with monitoring and control software for the network’s subsystems and remote monitoring and control from distant operational centers.
The contract is expected to run through 2011.
“This is an important win for Globecomm based on our Summit Earth Station and Explorer Transportable Terminals product lines. This supports our strategy of expanding our Ka-band system products and solution offerings for the government and commercial markets,” Globecomm Senior Vice President of Infrastructure Thomas Coyle said in a statement.
