[Satellite TODAY 07-14-10] Gilat Satellite Networks has been chosen to provide VSAT broadband satellite network applications for an unnamed Asian homeland security agency, the company announced July 13.
    Gilat will deploy its SkyEdge and SkyEdge 2 multi-service platforms as well as its NetEdge solution for corporate and cellular multi star networks.
    The networks will be used to deliver data, video and voice applications for homeland security and border patrol forces in addition to other defense requirements, incorporating video surveillance applications and various quick-deploy transportable units. These include Gilat’s customized man-pack solution, which is a portable communications system that aims to enable forces to rapidly establish broadband connectivity in the field.
    Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
