[Satellite TODAY 07-12-10] Mobile satellite service provider TeleCommunication Systems (TCS) received a $9.8 million order from the U.S. Army for support equipment and maintenance of secret and non-secure Internet protocol router access point (SNAP) VSAT satellite systems, the company announced July 9.
The order, initially funded at $1.7 million with the possibility of reaching a total of $9.8 million if the contract’s options are fully exercised through August 2011, will see TCS deploy and maintain SwiftLink communications products. The TCS SwiftLink VSAT systems aims to meet SNAP program requirements providing multimedia communications capabilities conveying encrypted voice, video and data.
The order is funded through the U.S. Army project manager for the Warfighter Information Network-Tactical (WIN-T) Commercial Satellite Terminal Program (CSTP). The Army’s WIN-T CSTP program carries a $5 billion satellite systems contract vehicle.
