[Satellite TODAY 04-28-10] GPS tracking and communication solutions provider Blue Sky Network has been selected by the Peruvian Air Force to provide its GPS-based D2000 flyaway kits and aviation tracking devices for search and rescue operations, Blue Sky Network announced April 27.
The GPS tracking devices, which operate through Iridium satellite services, aim to ensure that the aircraft will be in communication anywhere in Peru and throughout the world. The kits feature a battery life of up to 12 hours, allowing for extended monitoring and communication between on-flight personnel and ground control.
“We have begun to see significant adoption of Blue Sky Network technology in the commercial oil and gas sector. Expanding into the military and defense sector is a natural extension of our products and services as there is nothing more important than helping the FAP ensure safety for all its operations,” Blue Sky Spokeswoman Carlton van Putten said in a statement.
Financial details of the order were not disclosed.
