[Satellite TODAY 04-23-10] Boeing Defense, Space and Security’s 2010 first-quarter revenues fell to $7.6 billion from $7.7 billion reported in 2009 due to lower volume in network and space systems, the company announced in its latest financial results, released April 21.
Network and space systems first-quarter revenue was $2.3 billion in the first quarter, a $300 million drop from the previous year, due to lower volume in networked and tactical systems and strategic missile and defense systems.
The company said it had a less-than-favorable contract mix during the quarter, but this was offset partially by higher earnings from United Launch Alliance.
The backlog for Defense, Space and Security stands at $64.2 billion, down by $600 million from the same period a year ago as run-off of multi-year contracts exceeded additions to backlog in the quarter, Boeing said.
