[Satellite TODAY 03-26-10] ViaSat received a Multifunctional Information Distribution System–Low Volume Terminal (MIDS-LVT) delivery order from the U.S. Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command MIDS Program Office, ViaSat announced March 25.
    The order, valued at nearly $21.5 million, will see ViaSat ship MIDS-LVT units beginning in March of 2011 and continuing through February of 2012. The order includes LVT airborne and LVT ground-based terminals under a five-year indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract.
    The order also includes LVT ground terminal variants for various U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force and Joint Forces applications as well as terminals for Germany, Australia and Korea.
The MIDS-LVT terminals aim to provide greater situational awareness in combat for the U.S. military and its defense partners by gathering information into a digital view of the battlefield.
