[Satellite TODAY 03-01-10] Comtech Mobile Datacom has received a $27.5 million ceiling increase to its Blue Force Tracking (BFT-1) program contract from the U.S. Army, the company announced Feb. 25.
The additional award brings Comtech’s total BFT-1 contract ceiling to $243.5 million, expiring December 2011.
In a statement, Comtech CEO Fred Kornberg said that the company also is trying to expand its Blue Force Tracking 2 (BFT-2) project with the U.S. military. “Our BFT-2 solution provides the U.S. Army a unique ability to seamlessly transition from our current BFT-1 solution to our BFT-2 solution by offering a staged upgrade cycle that eliminates the risk of network disruption while minimizing the costs of operating two different networks during a challenging budget environment.”
