[Satellite TODAY 02-09-10] The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) and the U.S. Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) will issue the solicitation for the $5 billion, 10-year Future Commercial Satellite Communications Services Acquisition (FCSA) award Feb. 9, the GSA confirmed Feb. 8.
The multiple-award schedule and indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity FCSA, a joint venture between the GSA and DISA, is intended to replace satellite communications contracts that will expire over the next two-and-a-half years. FCSA is open to defense and civilian agencies as well as state, local and tribal governments; public schools and colleges; and public authorities.
The program was created in August after the two agencies announced they would combine the civilian and military commercial satellite acquisition vehicles into a one-stop shop.
