[Satellite TODAY 01-20-10] L-3 Communications Systems has contracted EMS to supply antennas to the U.S. Navy for its CDL Hawklink program, EMS announced Jan. 19.
EMS will supply the Navy with its AN/ARQ-59 system, which includes the EMS Ku-band Common Data Link (CDL) antenna for the Navy’s MH-60R. The system is intended to increase the Hawklink’s current data rates for the Navy MH-60R to 22 megabits per second at over 100 nautical miles, supporting a range of surveillance, warfare and recovery missions.
The initial production contract is valued at more than $6.3 million, with deliveries set to begin in the third quarter of 2010. The EMS antenna award follows the Navy’s selection of L-3 Communications for full-rate CDL Hawklink production in 2009.
