[Satellite TODAY 09-03-09] MDA was awarded a contract from an unnamed government military customer to provide a long-endurance unmanned aerial (UAV) surveillance solution to support deployed forces, the company announced Sept. 2.
The contract is structured similarly to its previously awarded Noctua UAV service deal with the Canadian Defense Forces, announced in May 2008.
Under the new contract, MDA will provide a similar complete turnkey operational UAV service to the customer, providing full operations, maintenance and logistics, and supplying real-time, multi-sensor intelligence information directly in the theatre of operation.
The surveillance solution will be operational in early 2010 for a period of one year, with options for an additional two years. Financial details of the contract were not disclosed.
