[Satellite TODAY 08-27-09] iDirect has completed testing under the U.S. Joint User Interoperability Communications Exercise (JUICE) program, which assessed the capability of its technology to stream video-conference in ground vehicles moving at 65 mph, the company announced Aug. 25.
JUICE tested iDirect on a variety of its military-grade satellite communications technologies, including: the 12200 Series universal industrial 4-slot satellite hub, the iConnex e850mp compact satellite router board, the global network management systems and others.
The field tests involved a military ground task force building iDirect’s e850mp satellite router board and an L-3 Panther terminal so that it allowed mobile X-band connectivity, embedding multiple hubs in this arrangement so that military personnel could complete the simulation exercise while moving. This test showed a new standard of high-speed broadband for specific soldiers through a movable and discreet satellite router that could easily be carried around in a soldier’s backpack.
