[Satellite TODAY 08-25-09] The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) signed a letter of intent to cooperate with the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in satellite disaster monitoring, JAXA announced Aug. 24.
JAXA and the DLR will cooperate their research and development efforts in using synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellites, L-band SAR, X-band, ALOS and TerraSAR-X.
The organizations said the agreement acknowledges the necessity to promote satellite applications in an international manner. JAXA and DLR now enter negotiations to establish a concrete agreement for the implementation.
