[Satellite TODAY 08-19-09] Lockheed Martin updated its contract with Harris Corp. to development wireless networking technology for Increment 3 of the U.S. Army’s Warfighter Information Network-Tactical (WIN-T), Harris announced Aug. 18.
Lockheed Martin will extend the scope of Harris’ work on WIN-T, bringing Harris’ total award value to more than $130 million from 2007 to 2012. The follow-on production program is expected to include hundreds of systems per year between 2012 and 2021.
The contract upgrade follows Harris completing testing and evaluation milestones on WIN-T program this past month.
WIN-T Increment 3 aims to deliver more powerful networking to the warfighter when it begins its scheduled deployment in 2013.
