[Satellite Today 07-09-09] Raytheon Co. has launched a satellite imagery upgrade application for the U.S. National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) that will allow the agency to improve its ingestion and dissemination of commercially provided satellite imagery, Raytheon announced July 8.
The improvement enables the NGA to then transmit the imagery information to global warfighters and intelligence analysts at a faster rate.
"The data acquired by these sources provide a means to supplement and back up the existing national capabilities,” NGA Director Vice Adm. Robert Murrett said in a statement.
NGA also has contracted Raytheon to provide the next generation of services to disseminate data from multiple sources to its users. Raytheon’s new Geospatial Intelligence Data Transformation Services division will provide NGA with the ability to ingest and disseminate data from numerous data providers with varying formats and sensor platforms.
