[Satellite Today 05-18-09] ATSB will launch its remote sensing satellite, RazakSat, in mid-July after its scheduled April 21 launch was postponed due to technical problems, ATSB announced May 15.
Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (SpaceX) will launch RazakSat from Omelek island, part of the Kwajalein Atoll in the Pacific nation of Marshall Islands.
Malaysia’s Science, Technology and Innovation Deputy Minister, Fadillah Yusof, said that the launch vehicle had encountered some problems and the ministry had to ensure that it met certain specifications before it could be launched. “A strong vibration was detected in the rocket …We were worried that it would damage the satellite,” said Yusof, in a statement.
SpaceX could not be reached immediately for comment.
