[Satellite Today 04-29-09] Communications and Power Industries Inc. (CPI) received a contract worth approximately $3 million from DataPath to support an upgrade to existing communications terminals used for the U.S. Army’s Warfighter Information Network-Tactical (WIN-T) satellite communications program, CPI announced April 28.
CPI will supply Ka-band high-power satellite communications amplifiers to upgrade DataPath’s existing unit hub satcom truck terminals used for the WIN-T program. These terminals were originally configured solely for Ku-band communications.
With this latest award, CPI has recently received more than $4 million in total awards from DataPath to support the WIN-T program. CPI has participated in various iterations of the WIN-T program since 2006, and said it has received about $40 million in orders, of which $17 million remained in order backlog as of April 3.
In a statement, CPI said it expects to receive an additional $10 million to $20 million in orders for the WIN-T program in the next couple of years.
