Outerlink To Provide Satellite Tracking To Homeland Security Department
Outerlink Corp. has partnered with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to provide satellite-tracking data from all commercial satellite tracking systems in domestic use today. OuterLink will integrate satellite data feeds from MSAT-, Iridium- and Inmarsat-based tracking systems.
The program will allow aircraft operators that use differing satellite tracking systems to share position and unit identification information data to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s air and marine operations center.
TCS Receives Additional Funding For VSAT Systems
TeleCommunication Systems (TCS) received an additional $5.6 million of funding from the U.S. Army to provide additional systems to support ongoing U.S. military operations.
TCS will provide additional secure Internet protocol router and non-secure Internet protocol router access point VSAT systems as well as an assortment of data packages, forward-deployed spares and field service engineers.
The systems will support operations in Iraq and Afghanistan as part of an order announced in August. The total order has a potential value of $246 million if all options are exercised.
Numerex Teams With Savi To Develop First Hybrid Tracking System
Numerex Corp. has established a technology partnership with Savi, a Lockheed Martin company, to codevelop the first asset and shipment-monitoring device that combines global satellite positioning, active radio frequency identification and satellite communications.
The hybrid ST-694 GlobalTag is being developed to market with new capabilities for both spot-level and in-transit visibility of shipments and mobile supply chain assets, such as transport vehicles, container shipments or large and valuable equipment.
EMS To Continue Work On B-2 Satellite Antenna
Northrop Grumman awarded EMS $35.7 million for continued development work on the new extremely high frequency (EHF) satellite communications system for the B-2 stealth bomber.
The EHF system will allow the B-2 to fully use the communication techniques of both Milstar and advanced EHF satellites.
Impeva Labs, Agility Deploy Military Remote Tracking System in Iraq
Impeva Labs Inc and Agility deployed a new satellite service to track and monitor more than 365 U.S. military trucks operating on remote roads between depots in Dubai, Jordan and Iraq. The system provides tracking, monitoring and managing of shipments of critical goods and supplies to support troops in Iraq.
The deployment is the beginning of a multi-phased deployment to support Agility’s operations in the region. Agility, which provides logistics and freight management systems and transport vehicles, used Impeva’s global asset visibility system as part of a contract signed with the U.S. Army Logistics Innovation Agency in December.
Integral Buys Rights to SatID Geolocation Product Line
Integral Systems has purchased the intellectual property rights and other assets relating to the SatID military product line from Qinetiq Group.
The acquisition adds geolocation capabilities to Integral Systems’ product line and includes a technology support agreement and strategic partnership with Qinetiq to pursue teaming arrangements with Qinetiq North America for defense and intelligence markets.
The SatID product will be integrated with Integral’s Telemetrix, Compass and Monics products to add to the capability to detect satellite uplink communication signals with applications in commercial, military, government and intelligence markets.
Raytheon To Produce Gps Anti-Jamming Antenna
Raytheon Systems Ltd. received a $1.4 million contract from the U.S. Air Force for initial production of the GPS Advanced Digital Antenna Production (ADAP) system. The contract provides the military with 41 antenna electronics and 28 controlled reception pattern antennas to equip U.S. Navy surface platforms and fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft.
The ADAP system protects GPS-based navigation and timing systems from deliberate jamming and accidental interference.
