[Satellite Today 03-27-09] Overwatch Tactical Operations has received an award from Thales France to provide five sets of Ka- and Ku-multiband satellite communications antennas for use on the Royal Norwegian Navy’s Nansen-class frigates, Thales announced March 26.
    The Ka/Ku-multiband solution acquired by Overwatch aims to minimize the required amount of deck space by combining the functionality of two antennas into a single antenna that provides flexibility through remotely reconfigurable frequency band control.
    Overwatch is partnering with vendors Pacific Radome and the Microwave Components Group of Cobham Sensor Systems.
    Overwatch’s antenna multiband solution will be integrated into Thales’s Surfsat naval satcom family of products for the Royal Norwegian Navy.
    Financial details of the award were not disclosed.
