[Satellite Today 03-25-09] Wavestream Corp., a manufacturer of solid-state power amplifiers (SSPAs), has introduced a line of 160-Watt X-band SSPAs for commercial and military applications, the company announced March 23.
    Using proprietary spatial power combining technologies, the company said it was able to pack 160 watts of solid-state output power at 1dB compression into a rugged 32-pound unit.
    The new X-band Matchbox aims to minimize life-cycle costs even in the most demanding applications and extreme environments. “Our customers demanded a Wavestream solution to X-band … With the introduction of our new X-band product line, we continue to expand the scope of our business from the Ka-, Ku- and C-bands to offer our customers a larger portfolio of solutions with the same value, reliability and performance they have come to expect from Wavestream,” said Cliff Cooke, president and CEO of Wavestream, in a statement.
