[Satellite Today 03-18-09] Arrowhead Global Solutions has been awarded a pair of multimillion dollar contracts to provide more than 200 megahertz of commercial X-band satellite services to two U.S. government agencies, Arrowhead announced March 17.
    The X-band capacity will be provided by the Xtar-Eur satellite, which is owned and operated by Xtar LLC, and Xtar-Lant, a payload on Hisdesat’s Spainsat satellite. Xtar is a a joint venture between Loral Space & Communications and Hisdesat.
    Arrowhead, the government services division of CapRock Communications, announced in December a managed network service providing commercial X-band capacity to the military and intelligence community using the Xtar capacity.
    “These wins continue a series of industry firsts and recent large-scale global contract awards in both the commercial and government divisions of CapRock,” Arrowhead President Tom Eaton said in a statement.
