Calif. Lawmaker Pushes Bill Requiring Satellites to Blur Images of Certain Buildings
[Satellite Today 03-06-09] Assemblyman Joel Anderson (R-Ca.), has tabled a bill to the California State Assembly that would the force the blurring of satellite images of many buildings of schools, places of worship, government or medical buildings, as well as banning street images, Digital Trends reported Mar. 5.
According to the report, Anderson’s bill aslo stipulates that companies in California that fail to do so could face up to three years in prison and fines of up to $250,000 a day.
Anderson cited last year’s terrorist attacks in Mumbai as the reason for the bill. "All I’m trying to do is stop terrorists. I don’t want California to be helping map out future targets for terrorists," Anderson told press officials.
