[Satellite Today 02-09-09] Raytheon Company is hoping to win a lucrative ground segment contract from The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The company, announced Feb. 6, that it had submitted its final proposal for the development of the ground segment for NOAA’s next-generation Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite R series, known as GOES-R.
When launched, GOES-R will deliver significant technological advancements to provide sustained, reliable collection, analysis and distribution of data from the atmosphere, oceans, land and sun. The GOES-R ground segment will be one of the most advanced satellite ground systems ever developed, processing and distributing data to operational users within minutes of the instrument observations.
Lynn Dugle, president, Raytheon Intelligence and Information Systems, commented, “We are very pleased to have reached this point in the competition and are confident that our proposal offers the best solution at an affordable price for our customer.”
