[Satellite Today 12-18-08] Lockheed Martin and Thales Alenia Space Italy have formed a strategic partnership to develop a new family of space-based remote sensing systems, the companies announced Dec. 18.
    The agreement is based on a framework the two companies established in 2007 and has been expanded as part of this new phase of development. Under the terms of the expansion, both companies will leverage resources, talents, programs and customer partnerships to expand respective remote sensing product areas and businesses. 
    “This agreement allows us to further expand our customer base and to address the U.S. market as well, where we have already begun our cooperation with Lockheed Martin in answering a [request for information] recently released by the U.S. Air Force,” Massimo Di Lazzaro, executive vice president of Thales Alenia Space, said in a statement.
