[Satellite Today 12-15-08] DataPath has been awarded a pair of delivery orders to manufacture and install Ku-band satellite communications hubs in support of U.S. Central Command and the U.S. Marine Corps in Southwest Asia, DataPath announced Dec. 15.
Under the orders, valued at a combined $3.3 million, DataPath will provide two dual-antenna Ku-band terminals, one of which will be configured for operation in Ka-band to utilize the Wideband Global Satcom (WGS) system when operational needs require it.
"We are working closely with the military to ensure that the next generation of Earth terminals is configured for use with the WGS constellation, which provides critical space segment availability and increased bandwidth throughput in support of operational requirements," Steve Lindeman, vice president of business operations at DataPath, said in a statement.
