[Satellite Today 08-14-08] Lockheed Martin Corp. has acquired the government business unit of Nantero Inc., a privately-held, Massachusetts-based company that has developed methods and processes for incorporating carbon nanotubes in next-generation electronic devices, Lockheed Martin announced Aug. 13.
Nantero, which will part of Lockheed Martin’s space division, has produced carbon nanotube devices in a commercial semiconductor fabrication process. The technology is applicable to space and electronics systems, Lockheed Martin spokeswoman Cheryl Amerine told Satellite Today.
Additionally, Lockheed Martin has entered an exclusive license arrangement with Nantero for government applications of Nantero’s extensive intellectual property portfolio.
About 30 Nantero employees will join Lockheed Martin as part of the deal.
