[Satellite Today 08-07-08] Globecomm Systems Inc. has been awarded an infrastructure contract from General Communication Inc. to provide supporting infrastructure for a communications network in Alaska, Globecomm announced Aug. 6.
Under the $9 million contract, Globecomm will provide 69 shelters that will be used in concert with the installation of certain sites under a previously announced contract. Forty-four of the shelters will be outfitted with C-band subsystems with the remaining 25 outfitted to support terrestrial communications.
The contract is a follow-on to a $20.7 million contract Globecomm received in June 2007.
Separately, Globecomm appointed Keith Hall senior vice president and general manager of Globecomm Network Services. He will be responsible for planning and execution of corporate growth strategies, strategic business development, creation of service-based solution offerings and execution of service contracts.
