[Satellite News 08-06-08] Surrey Satellite Technology Limited (SSTL) has set up a new subsidiary in the United States, the company said August 5.
The new company, Surrey Satellite Technology US LLC, is intended to take advantage of what SSTL perceives to be the growing international demand for economical, responsive and highly capable spacecraft for a broad range of applications.
“The United States is the world’s largest satellite market and presents a great opportunity for us,” John Paffett, who has been appointed CEO of the new company, said in a statement. “Surrey Satellite Technology strives to improve and increase the application and utility of small satellites that address the need for operationally responsive space. With budgets coming under increasing pressure, we’ve now reached the point where the price performance of some of these systems is opening up space to a whole new range of customers, applications and services.”
Initially, Surrey Satellite Technology US will operate out of Colorado, but SSTL also plans to open offices in California and Washington, D.C.
