[Satellite Today – 7-16-08] Encore Networks has been granted a patent by the U.S. Patent and Trademarks Office related to the company’s method for securely connection satellite networks with terrestrial links, the company announced July 15.
    Encore’s selective layer encryption technology maximizes the speed of the network connection and can be used as part of an end-to-end virtual private network solution. The architecture of the technology fully interoperates with satellite modems from leading vendors and supports optimal high-speed connectivity over TCP and UDP-based applications.
    Selective layer encryption “enables satellite carriers and systems integrators to rollout value-added secure broadband services that compete effectively against alternative broadband technologies,” Krishna Ragireddy, Encore’s vice president of engineering, said in a statement.
