[Satellite Today 07-11-08] General Dynamics C4 Systems was awarded a contract option to continue development, qualification and certification of an encryption module that will be used to secure telemetry, tracking and control of U.S. Department of Defense satellites, the company announced July 9.
The $9.2 million contract from the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA), brings the total value of General Dynamic’s contract to $19.3 million.
The program is scheduled to be completed during the 2009 fourth quarter, and the production contract is expected to be awarded, General Dynamics said. General Dynamics C4 Systems is the prime contractor working with subcontractor SafeNet Mykotronx. The U.S. Air Force Headquarters Cryptologic Systems Group of San Antonio, Tex., is the contracting authority for the program.
