[Satellite Today 07-11-08] Columbus Geographic Systems (GIS) Ltd. reached an agreement with DigitalGlobe for access to the satellite operator’s digital image bank for use in navigation systems, Columbus announced July 10.
    Columbus’ main product, Ranger, provides location-based, GPS mapping, navigation, and information solutions for the off-road environment.
    "High-quality mapping images are an essential component of any effective navigation system. Access to DigitalGlobe’s advanced images will enable us to dramatically improve the scope and quality of the Ranger," Columbus CEO Tsvika Freidman, said in a statement "We are determined to maintain our position as a leading player in the world of navigation systems, and are very excited to partner with DigitalGlobe to enable us to maintain and enhance this position."
