[Satellite Today – 8-25-08] Crawford Communications Inc. received a contract to support the U.S. military’s Digital Video and Imagery Distribution System (DVIDS), the company announced June 24.
DVIDS is a network of 106 portable Ku-band transmitters located with deployed military units and a central distribution hub located at Crawford’s teleport.
Under the long-term agreement, Crawford will provide content aggregation, media relations, Internet and satellite services for the military. Crawford also offers training classes, staffing, analysis, Web support and video and print editing services.
Separately, Crawford Satellite Services, a service area of Crawford Communications, received a multi-year subcontract to offer fulltime satellite space segment to Arrowhead Global Solutions.
Arrowhead was selected by the U.S. Defense Information Systems Agency to support U.S. Department of Defense communications, and through this agreement, the U.S. Army secured 39 megahertz of satellite capacity for the DVIDS project.
