[Satellite Today – 5-7-08] Spacenet Inc.’s advanced satellite services have been deployed as part of an emergency response network for the Missouri Hospital Association and the Missouri Department of Transportation, Spacenet partner Orbital Data Net announced May 7.    
    The networks, deployed and managed by Orbital Data, provide high-speed satellite based links to support data and voice communications in the case of a disaster or terrestrial connectivity failure. The solutions are based on Spacenet’s Connexstar Performance and Broadband series and support Voice Over IP, radio backhaul and virtual private networks Internet access. Both organizations will use fixed and transportable satellite services.
    “In the past, [the Missouri Department of Transportation] has faced challenges with implementing satellite communications systems that met our unique requirements,” Communications Supervisor John Diggs said in a statement. “Leveraging the expertise from [Orbital Data] and Spacenet, we were able to overcome these challenges and have successfully deployed a system that meets our needs.”
