[Satellite Today – 1-23-08] Integral Systems Inc. has handed over satellite bus operations for the initial Wideband Global Satcom (WGS) satellite to the Command and Control System-Consolidated (CCS-C) baseline, the company announced Jan. 23.
    The first WGS satellite was launched in October for the U.S. Air Force and will meet the growing demand for military satellite communications. Satellite manufacturer Boeing is under contract to develop four more WGS spacecraft.
    Integral is the prime contractor for the CCS-C program, which provides an upgraded capability to command and control the Air Force’s communication satellites, including the Defense Satellite Communication System, Milstar, WGS and Advanced Extremely High Frequency satellites.
