[11-5-07 – Satellite Today] DataPath Inc. has been awarded $2.9 million to upgrade DataPath terminals used in the U.S. Marine Corps Support Wide Area Network (SWAN) program, the company announced Nov. 5.
The contract, which could increase to $10.7 million if all options are exercised, will upgrade and enhance the flexibility of DataPath satellite transportable terminals as well as provide onsite services such as field engineering and training to Marines using the terminals.
SWAN is an integrated, IP-based tactical communications program that uses commercial satellite terminals, network baseband equipment, wireless systems, software and technical support personnel from DataPath to provide forward-deployed Marines with communication capabilities. DataPath has supported SWAN since the company worked with the Marines to launch the programs in 2004.
DataPath has been awarded more than $50 million in contracts for the SWAN program in 2007.
