[10-30-07 – Satellite Today]  Radyne Corp. business unit Xicom Technology has received two orders for millimeter-wave power amplifiers for use in military terminals, Radyne announced Oct. 30.
    The contract, worth more than $8 million, will be used to uplink the amplifiers with the U.S. Air Force’s Wideband Global System constellation of satellites.
    The first satellite was launched Oct. 10 and  is expected to begin Air Force service during the first quarter of 2008.
    Boeing is under contract to build three Block 1 and two Block 2 satellites, and the Australian government announced Oct. 3 it will fund a sixth spacecraft under an agreement to have access to the U.S. satellite communications system.
